Chino Argueta

Over the past 10 years Chino has worked with many organizations to help develop and implement youth recreation programs across Winnipeg to ensure access to activities for all.  Chino is recognized by his peers as an advocate for change to help ensure this universal participation for young people is possible.

Chino’s experience coordinating community programming includes extensive involvement at Youth Agencies Alliance where he coordinated 18 agencies by bringing them together to better the life of youth across Winnipeg. His role at YAA involved leading initiatives with multiple sectors initiating collaboration and providing expertise. This collaboration included parties from the City of Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba, United Way, Winnipeg Foundation and the community.

Chino is passionate about supporting new and innovative programming for young people, especially those with a focus on sports and recreations as he believes that skills learned on the field can translate into success for young people not just in sports, but in their personal lives as well.  During his time at Spence Neighbourhood Association Chino was charged with coordinating a variety of recreation programs, including the implementation of basketball and soccer curriculum at SNA which they still run today.

Born and raised in Guatemala, Chino has called Winnipeg home since 2005. Chino is a husband and a proud dad. He currently manages the Axworthy Health and RecPlex at the University of Winnipeg where he works with over 60 community organizations to further develop and implement grassroots programs.
